I woke up sometime between 1 am, and 2:30 am, noted we still had the dog.
I sent him a text telling him we were keeping Lady.
He replied at 2:40 am that he remembered me telling him if it was after 1 am, to not come in to pick Lady up.
I checked my Ring, noted that he was safely home, and dozed back off.
I managed to sleep in this morning until 8 am.
Loud thunder shook me awake, I mean loud thunder.
It shook and rattled these old windows.
I’m not one to just lay in bed once I’m awake, so Lady and I headed to the living room.
It thundered, loudly at times, until 11 am.
It never really was a storm, though.
We didn’t see any lightning.
We got a little bit of rain, but it was mostly all loud thunder.
I waited until 10 am, just to be sure, and took Lady and Duffy to pee, then fed my strays.
I may have seen a streak of lightning then, but I'm not sure.
Cowboy and Badger were up by then, so I took my chances and went out to the she-shed.
I stayed out there and read all morning.
I have no idea what Cowboy and Badger did all morning.
I came in at 1:30 pm, Badger had fixed dinner.
I think she's done with cooking, but too stubborn to tell me to start back cooking.
Badger and I watched TV until after Cowboy went to work.
Friday is Heron's day off, so he's been in and out, and roaming around.
After Cowboy went to work, we came out of the bedroom to clean up the dinner mess.
We’d had the windows open all day.
I heard this loud thunk, like maybe a gun going off or something exploding.
It sounded like it was right under the bushes at the TV side of the house.
Duffy jumped in the chair, growling and barking at the window.
The bush is so huge and bushy I couldn’t see out.
I told Badger to help me close the windows.
We’d turn the a/c on.
Old store neighbor was doing something weird again.
We closed up, and being nosy, we went to check it out.
He had a big old sledgehammer in his hands, and it looked like he’d whacked a hole in the bottom of his chimney.
He must have just whammed that concrete.
It made a loud sound.
She did not appreciate being on a leash.
I don’t think she’s on a leash very often.
She’s well‑trained and is usually allowed to be free.
We came in and settled down to watch TV.
The Roomba got caught up in the couch cover, so Badger went over to turn her off.
She noticed the couch was wet, so I went over to see if it was pee or drool, and a drop of water plunked me in the head.
We thought the roof was leaking, so we put a towel down and the trash can under it.
It was a pretty steady drip, drip, drip.
I’ll come back to this problem in a minute.
My new walking stick came today.
I hate carrying a walking stick, but I hate rabies shots more.
I think I made a mistake on the size of this one, and it’s not thick like Badger’s.
I may still whack a dog well enough to keep its teeth off me, though.
We also got the dog spray this morning.
It’s supposedly used by the postal service.
I guess we’re armed and ready.
Badger, of course, had to take a walk to try out the new stick.
We went the cow way, which I’m sure she didn’t like.
Then at 9 pm, we took our final walk of the day.
We tempted fate and went the evil poodle way.
We came home, and Cowboy called on his break.
I told him about the leak.
He says it’s the a/c in the ceiling and something has clogged up.
I think he got mad because I refused to go in the attic crawlspace to unclog it.
I won’t even go up in there during the day.
You’re sure not getting me up there at night.
So he said to turn the a/c off until he can get around to it.
That would be great if we could open windows, but we cannot.
The house is going to be miserable hot tonight.
I have two floor fans, and the cats will have to have one.
The bedrooms do have ceiling fans, but they only stir the heat up, it seems.
Oh well, at least it wasn’t the roof.
And at least it’s not a typical June.
It seems to be a little more cool than normal.
I’ll get off of here.
As far as I know, we’re still helping Raven tomorrow.
