“There is no sunrise so beautiful that it is worth waking me up to see it.”

I woke up at 8 am, go in-you know, bathroom and all that junk comes first-look over & the guinea pig looks weird.
I walk over to his cage, and he is up to his belly in wet bedding, the bedding is leaking water, and pig was covered up to his belly in mud.

Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.

Cowboy had to go help Heron fix his truck this morning, this left Badger and I stuck at home with nothing to do.

So, we did just that: nothing.

We did take a walk around the block, and watched TV, and basically were lazy.
Sometimes lazy is nice.

"September: it was the most beautiful of words… evoking orange flowers, swallows and regret."

I suppose there comes a time when even the universe tells you to lose weight.
I was in my office chair this morning, turned around, leaned down to shake Fox's food bowl.
Next thing I know, I hear this awful crunch, and I'm laying in Fox's food bowl.

Oh, my word!
Cowboy looked at the chair later on and said, “how did you break the metal like that?!”
I'm fat 🤷

🐾 Adding a little extra 'purr' to our family happiness

Cowboy stayed in the carport all day, he's fixing the truck-maybe.
It's one of the vehicles, anyway.

Heron came over, he finished up the garden.
We barely got any produce from it this year, Cowboy just wasn't into it.

Badger and I stayed inside all day.
We had a very good reason.

"The month of August had turned into a griddle where the days just lay there and sizzled." -Sue Monk Kidd

Today was a waste of paper kind of day.

Heron did come by, he's plowing the garden up.
Mostly, though, he got a new I have no clue, but he's playing with it in his daddy's garden.
I don't think he's ready to tear his own garden up yet.

“If the trap’s set, the raccoon’s already decided the guest of honor. Spoiler: it’s not him.”

Cowboy had trapped a poor little possum last night, it was going nuts when I went out this morning.
I sent Nephew D a text telling him to let it loose down by the chicken coop.
He can take off the raccoons, although I hate that, but not my possums.
I forgot D works day shift, with Cowboy on second I just automatically assume everyone is on second—dumb I know.

Waffle-y good

Cowboy and Badger didn’t wake up until after 11 a.m.
Badger was up before Cowboy.

I was a little worried about him—he got home at midnight.
I guess at his age, being off work for four days and then going back in wore him out.

I’d rather be sleeping

Cowboy got home from work at 6:40 a.m.
At that point, he’d been awake since 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
He was absolutely foaming at the mouth.
I mean, he was so angry he was threatening to tell the plant he quit.
He said he’d told his boss numerous times he had to be home early.
He told them he had a doctor’s appointment at 7 a.m.—I mean, our appointment was at 8 a.m., but where we live, we couldn’t wait until almost 8 to leave.
He said they called in help several times, but help never showed up.

And in the winter, we stay inside

It's rained off and on all day, at times really heavy.

I'll preface by saying, I don't go out very much and I really, really don't have much of a life.

After Cowboy went to work, an ambulance, a police office and what appeared to be the volunteer firemen stopped at the house beside the double wide.

Whatever it was, it must not have been a big deal, they didn't take anyone out.
