“If today was a flavor it would taste like beige...”

It’s one of those nothing-to-write, stayed-home-all-day kind of days.
There’s really not much to say.
Cowboy works, and we sit.
That’s our life in a nutshell.

Cowboy had a doctor’s appointment today.
Some news was good, some not as good.
That’s how it usually goes: one thing resolved, another issue appears.

Raven made potato puffs to take to work.
I just hope his coworkers are kind.
He doesn’t always catch on to things and sometimes misses social cues.
I’ve suspected he might be autistic, he and Badger have a lot in common.

Raven said the doctor wants Vier tested for autism.
She’s showing a lot of red flags.
As we learned with Badger, it’s harder to recognize in females.
The standard test is geared toward males, but girls and women often present differently.
Medicine still tries to fit everyone into the same box, and autism simply doesn’t work that way.

I told Raven that with all the recent talk about registries, I’d be cautious.
Early diagnosis is important, but so is privacy.
Delaying would be a disservice to Vier, since she could miss out on early intervention.
That registry idea still scares me.

We’re supposed to have all four kids this weekend so they can get their Easter bags.
Raven said he’d “try,” but I don’t see why it’s a “try” situation.
The deal is weekends with all four.
Three might be easier, but that’s not the point.

Heron went fishing and didn’t get back until late.
That’s how you know spring’s here, when he hits the river.

Badger usually hides in her room, but tonight she sat through a whole movie with me.
Turns out Roseanne Barr and Meryl Streep are the magic combo.

I’m calling it a night with my book.
Tomorrow’s town day.
We don’t need to go, but Cowboy always sticks to his routines.
