We made it home at 12:45 pm, so Cowboy fed the chickens, gathered the eggs, ate his lunch, and got a nap before work.
That's pretty good for a Thursday.
Badger retreated to her hobbit hole, and I retreated to my troll cave.
TV, TV, TV, of course.
Cowboy eventually left for work, so Badger and I went outside.
She put up new lights on St. Francis and the windmill.
Apparently, over time the solar panels on outside lights will fog up and no longer charge.
Who knew?
I wasn’t thinking ahead when I wrapped lights around the archway.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
But over the winter (do roses even grow in winter?), one of those thorny things decided to wrap itself around the control panel.
And this rose doesn’t mess around; its thorns are the size of pocket knives.
Okay, maybe not quite, but they’re nasty.
Neither Badger nor I are brave enough to reach into that bush’s tangled mess to retrieve the panel.
So I ordered a solar lantern to hang where there are no thorns.
You’ve got to have some kind of light out there, otherwise you’ll walk straight into that archway and get stabbed by nature.
Raven about scared the poop out of me.
He wasn't home when we went outside, and I didn’t bring my phone, so I had no idea when he got back.
He stomped around the side of the house, and all I could see in the shadowy carport was a bare chest and legs.
The only weapon I had at hand was a gnome.
Luckily, it was just Raven, complaining because my Ring was squawking at him.
Every time Badger walked near the camera, it sent an alert inside.
Badger finished up, and we all headed inside.
According to her, it was too darn hot.
In my opinion, it felt pretty good outside.
Then we came inside, and I was alone until supper time.
I played on the computer, and caught up on the laundry.
I walked into the bathroom this morning, and there were towels all over the floor.
There was even a towel in the living room.
I sleep soundly, at least for a little bit.
I don't know what kind of party went on last night.
But the bathroom laundry needed washing.
Badger popped out of her room for supper and a movie.
We were in the middle of “Hair” when my cousin sent me a text.
She’d had to leave her fur babies alone unexpectedly, and she was worried sick about them, so I tried to reassure her.
Nothing else to jabber about, I don’t reckon.
Raven’s not supposed to bring the kids this weekend.
I’m not sure what’s going on there, but I suppose we’ll see.
It’ll be an adjustment when the usual weekend routine kicks back in.
We’ve enjoyed not having to put everything away each weekend.
The animals have enjoyed the freedom too.
Sometimes a little space makes relationships easier.
Not every setup fits every personality, and I’ve learned what works best for me.
I like my house quiet, clean, and settled.
I don’t thrive in high-energy environments.
Oh, I can't believe I forgot.
Uncle’s phone buzzed.
I looked over, and it was a place name I didn’t recognize.
Curiosity got the better of me, so I answered.
His phone is locked tight, but it can receive calls.
He has a ride coming to pick him up tomorrow, not like Uber.
I think it's the equivalent to what we have here, like a van service you pay for.
Which means he probably has a doctor appointment tomorrow.
So I’ll have to call and cancel both of those.
There is no need for them to waste their time.
Now I think I'll head to bed, and read a little while.
