It was a grumpy day.
Cowboy’s latest blood test jumped again.
His doctor said it’s not urgent, but he wants another lab test.
They moved his appointment from June to July without telling us.
I managed to reschedule for early June, even though they swore nothing was available.
When I told him, he got upset.
He said he was planning to fix the kitchen that week, and now he’d forget it.
He never mentioned taking the week off.
I was just trying to avoid another repeat test.
I retreated to the she-shed until it got too cold, then came inside, curled up with a lousy ghost story, and waited for him to leave for work.
I may or may not have told him to handle his own appointments from now on.
If they say he needs that test again, heaven help them.
They’ve been giving him the runaround for two years.
If he weren’t so stubborn, he’d have switched practices by now.
But yeah, grumpy morning.
I’m not sure if Cowboy’s keeping something from us again.
He seems more focused on those recent test results than usual.
And he’s determined to get the kitchen floor replaced before any appointments.
What this means is that Badger and I are on construction duty, and Cowboy won’t be easy to live with until everything’s finished.
He gets seriously cranky when we remodel.
I’m not excited about it.
I swore I wasn’t doing any more work on this house.
“Let it fall apart,” I said.
But here we go again.
This will have to be the last remodel we tackle ourselves.
Cowboy’s just getting too old to keep doing this kind of work.
Badger and I took a little walk, just to get out of the house.
We sat in the she-shed for a bit, then spent the evening watching movies.
I guess I’ll get off of here.
Tomorrow is town day, and Cowboy is, once again, too rigid to change his routine.
We won’t be buying groceries like we normally do.
No kitchen means a week or so of sandwiches.
I just need basic picnic supplies.
It really should be a quick trip.
