Not surprisingly, her gums were raw again.
It just goes with feline leukemia.
This practice doesn’t do full mouth extractions.
They’ll refer you to UT Animal Hospital, where the cost runs into the thousands—plural.
Surprisingly, we didn’t walk back out with Smudge.
They kept her overnight.
In the morning, they’ll sedate her and do a full mouth cleaning.
They may remove the one tooth that seems to be the worst.
If we’re lucky, we’ll limp along for another year before she’s in pain again.
I think they said it’s been 18 months since the last episode.
Equally surprisingly, Cowboy didn’t put up a huge fuss about missing work or going in late tomorrow.
Pick-up time is between 4 and 5 pm—he normally starts at 3:30.
The day moved on, as it’s wont to do.
Time for Cowboy to head to work came fast today.
Badger and I took a walk to the creek church and sat there for a good long while.
It was after 6:30 pm when we got home.
I wasn’t expecting either of them—Heron usually works late.

It mostly depends on what kind of shift he’s had.
He was tired this evening, so he left early.
We’re going to get groceries tomorrow, since Cowboy won’t need to be home by 1:30 pm.
We’ll also pick up Badger’s birthday dinner, even though it’ll be a day early.
Then, of course, we’ll get Smudge late tomorrow.
I guess I’ll head on back to my book.
I think the kids are settled down for the night—can I even call them kids when they’re adults?
They’ll always be my kids.
I can close up the house and curl up to read for a while.
