It was bitterly cold this morning, but at least the roads weren’t icy.
Traffic was awful, and I still hate that drive down to West Knoxville.
The appointment went about like they always do, and the exam looked fine.
Now it’s just waiting on the lab results.
You’re never really in the clear until those show up.
She said that’s usually something the GP handles, but I told her my doctor keeps cancelling on me, and I can’t wait forever.
My anxiety’s through the roof, and I’m not sleeping.
She did prescribe something, and I’ll pick it up when we get back to town.
It’ll take about a month to start doing anything.
We stopped at Walmart because Cowboy’s work phone had been turned off.
We’d forgotten to refill his minutes.
Then we headed to Food City.
Badger texted to say she wasn’t cooking today.
The stove had caught fire again.
We made it home and checked the stove.
It’s “fine,” if you count two eyes that won’t even turn on.
We should’ve replaced it after it caught on fire two summers ago.
We actually had to call the fire department to put it out.
Cowboy didn’t want to replace it.
He took it apart, worked on it, and said it was fine.
It’s not fine.
It stays hot for hours after you turn it off.
It burns food at 250°F, and the burners overheat.
I’d almost swear one of them was still heating even after it was off.
So we’re heading to Lowe’s tomorrow to find a new stove.
This is turning into an expensive year for appliances.
Thank heavens for our savings account, but if one more thing dies, we might be in trouble.
I picked up a rotisserie chicken, so we had that with mashed potatoes and a can of field peas.
I didn’t even mess with the two bad burners.
The ones I used worked well enough, even though they still overheat.
A burner shouldn’t be on low and still burn food.
Time for Cowboy to head to work came really fast today.
Raven and Badger were in their rooms, so I went in and took a nap.
I don’t sleep at night anyway, so I figured a nap wouldn’t hurt any.
I was up at 5:30 this morning, and it seemed like I woke up every hour on the hour last night.
By the time I woke up, Raven and Badger were already out and about.
Raven was doing laundry, and Badger had fixed me supper in the microwave.
One stove fire was enough to make her wary.
To be fair, it did sound like she had a good fire going this morning, and she was on her own.
I doubt Raven would’ve even noticed if the house had been on fire.
The evening went by fast.
Badger watched TV with me for a bit before heading back to her room.
Raven was cleaning his room.
He’s supposed to bring Drei and Vier down this weekend, since the other parent has plans with Eins and Zwei.
After that, hopefully he went to sleep.
He’s still on third shift and, as usual, struggling to wake up.
I’ve been on the computer all evening, but I’m about ready to call it a night.
