It's SNOWING!!....Snow what??

There is snow on the ground and flakes flying in the air.
I seriously doubt we'll wake up to a huge snow in the morning, but the kids are so excited.

It was in the 50s today with rain, then the temperature began dropping, and by 8 p.m. the flurries had begun.
The school has already called off school tomorrow.

City folks don’t always get it.
Even when there’s just a little snow on the grass, lots of our students come from way out in the county.

Heck, even here in town, we don't have salt trucks or snowplows.
When it gets bad, you're just stuck until it melts.
Those back roads, way back in the forgotten nether regions, may not thaw enough for a bus to travel down them for weeks.
I know one year when the town kids got back to school, but the country kids were excused because their roads still weren't cleared.
Parents moan and groan about their kids missing school when there's hardly any snow out, but they don't stop to think that just a little ice can make a road dangerous.
When you're talking about wooded, twisty, turny country roads, do you really want to risk children's lives?

I'm glad they're out.
That gives us a 4-day holiday, and if we ever dig out from the disaster we created moving, maybe I can sleep in some.
Yeah, I'm lazy.

Badger is back in our room.
We just moved her out.
Raven asked if he could please take Badger's room because his and Heron's schedule was not working
Raven is sleeping when Heron is awake and vice versa.
They're keeping each other up.

It's only until June, so I suppose it’s manageable.

Badger lived in our room from birth until Peacock graduated in '09.
It's a three-bedroom house; you can only stuff so many people in it.

I suppose I could move her in with Heron, since her belongings are going to have to go in there anyway.
But Cowboy said a teen boy doesn't need his little sister sleeping with him.
Not quite sure why it's okay for a little girl to sleep in her parents' room, but whatever.
She's got a bed and always has.
She's not actually sleeping with us; she's just occupying a corner of our room.

I've been moving stuff around all day.
It's 9 p.m. and Heron's mess is still everywhere.
That means I still have a giant mess in the living room because I can't move Badger's clothes into Heron's room until he makes space for them.
Heron has the attention span of a gnat, but he refused to let Raven and me help him.
He insisted on doing it himself.

I'm ready to scream.

Raven did not go to sleep last night.
He woke up at 1 p.m. Wednesday and finally went to bed at 6 p.m. Thursday.
He's tucked in a clean room and snoring happily.
I'm rather envious of him.

Badger's bed makes it hard for Cowboy and me to move around our room.
She'd been using a toddler bed up until this year.
It didn't take up much space.
Her current bed is much larger, and let's just say Cowboy and I had better not gain much weight, or we'll never get to our bed.

You do what you have to do, and this is the only solution we could come up with.
You can't fit four kids into a three-bedroom house and expect everything to work perfectly.
You can't put a student who gets up at 6:30 a.m. and goes to bed at 11 p.m. in the same room as someone who works until 9:30 p.m., stays up all night, and sleeps all day.
It just doesn't work out well.
They're both unhappy with the arrangement.

It's only until June.
Just keep repeating that.

Okay, back to work.
I want to see my bed sometime before tomorrow.
