Badger insisted Smudge was in my room when I went to bed.
I looked under the bed, behind everything, and in the closet, no cat.
So I went on to sleep, Cowboy woke me up after midnight when he came to bed.
I got up and looked in Badger’s room, no cat curled up with her.
I quietly checked her closet, no cat.
Ok, well maybe she went to the laundry room and we just didn’t notice.
I went back to sleep.
At 2:30 am, my normal who-knows-the-heck-why waking-up time comes.
I was awake, so why not see where that dang cat was.
Still no cat in my room, no cat in Raven’s room, no cat in Badger’s room, no cat in the living room, bathroom, or laundry room.
OK, now this is getting serious.
I woke up Badger, no easy job as the medication she takes sends her into a super deep sleep.
She did everything I did, still no freaking cat.
So I told her to check under my bed in the hole in the mattress Carl dug out.
She fussed and fussed the cat wasn't under there, she wanted to go back to bed.
I told her she wasn't going back to bed until the dang cat got found.
So she looked under the bed, and sure enough curled up in a tiny ball in the hole in the mattress was Smudge.
Badger said it felt like she had to do a C-section to drag the cat out of the hole.
We quickly tossed her in the laundry room and went back to bed.
The best part of all this?
Cowboy never woke up, and the cat was on his side of the bed.
Mondays are Badger’s weekly appointment, so the poor thing had to be up and out the door by 9:30 am.
She wasn't too happy with me for waking her up in the middle of the night.
But the cat had no access to a litter box, and I didn't want to put my foot down in something nasty.
I had an entire morning alone.
Raven was gone, and Heron went to his girlfriend's house for the night.
I guess we'll have to get used to this new normal, at least until Raven comes back again.
I got my birds fed and tossed a few peanuts on Side Deck Neighbor’s rock, no Van Gogh’s.
Something is eating them; I don’t know what, but they disappear.
Then I got all the outside cameras down and put the batteries on charge.
We don't need the inside cameras right now, but I don't want to be without my outside cameras.
Cowboy and Badger were back by 11:30 am, and the day moved on as it usually does.
Then it was time for Cowboy to head to work.
The wind has blown all day.
It's a very warm day, but windy.
I honestly don't remember the wind being so constant prior to 2019 or so.
Badger isn't feeling well, so we've had an indoor day.
We've watched TV all evening.
Some days that's just how things go.
It’s early to bed tonight because we have to take two packages to Morristown for Raven in the morning.
Raven really wants those packages, but without a car he's having to depend on the other parent to take him places.
Of course she doesn't want to drive all the way here, but Morristown sits between Bulls Gap and our town.
It works out that Vier already has an appointment in Morristown.
We had no plans on being in Morristown tomorrow, but it's not that big of a deal to drive up.
Let’s call it a day and head to bed.
