Chill autumn night — blankets, a movie, and pizza. Perfect

First day back to school and what does it do?

Yup, it pours down.

It did stop by three, but the wind was whipping and it was cold.

Well, maybe not cold‑cold, but it sure wasn’t shorts and T‑shirt weather.

I was shivering, which isn’t unusual for me if the temperatures drop below sixty.

Luckily, my little snail, Badger, managed to get her butt out of the school fairly quick this evening.

I think she was ready to head home and relax for a while.

We were up until after midnight last night playing with a chubby‑cheeked six‑month‑old.

Or at least Cowboy and I were.

Badger hid under the blankets and tried to ignore us.

Raven’s newest girlfriend has a baby, and they came down to see Raven.

The little thing is teething, so she fussed for a while, which we could clearly hear behind closed doors.

I finally fell asleep.

It’s just weird hearing a baby in the house again.

I think Raven said his girlfriend and the baby left at two.

Badger finally figured out her Halloween costume.

She’s going to be a serial killer.

I blame her brothers for her morbid streak.

I tried to get her to go as a Cereal Killer.

I found a bunch of funny costumes, but nope, no go.

I think she’s a bit confused, though.

She’s going out in camouflage.

When I think of serial killer, I think black.

Whatever floats her boat, I guess.

She wanted a Jason mask, the white hockey mask, and a prop knife.

I found the perfect prop knife at Walmart.

Remember those doll baby bottles that had disappearing liquid in them?

I found a prop knife and a machete that had fake blood in them.

It doesn’t disappear, though.

It just squishes around inside.

Pretty cool.

Heron roamed off, so it was just Badger and me again.

It was too wet to be outside, so we stayed in with a pizza and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

The kids and I just love that movie.

Peacock keeps posting “The Nightmare Before Christmas” wedding cakes on his Facebook, and I have a sinking suspicion he may actually have one.

AF is as crazy for it as he is.

He also posted a bedroom set with “The Nightmare Before Christmas” sheets and curtains and such.

I don’t know if that would be for L. or for the new baby.

I couldn't find the stuff they had posted, but I ended up on eBay, and there's a ton of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff over there.

When and if we ever get Badger into her own room, I know what her theme will be.

It’s definitely going to be an early night for me tonight.

I’m getting too old to be up all night.

My eyes keep drooping shut.

I guess I’m off to get the kid in the tub and then head on to bed.
