“Write Down Your Feelings,” They Said. So I Did. Here.

This was a very quiet, stay in Saturday, and it felt amazing.
Of course, I didn’t sleep in.
I doubt I could sleep in if I tried.
But at least I wasn’t jolted awake at the crack of dawn.
I had a gentle awakening.

I went to the she‑shed to watch the neighbor’s auction, but it started late and I didn’t see much.
Cowboy met the new owners later.
They looked about Badger’s age, which seemed very young to have bought a house.

Then I spent the morning on my computer.
I’m usually stuck with a tablet and a phone.

The cats were celebrating.
They finally had freedom.
They could watch their birds instead of being stuck in that hot laundry room.

The dogs stayed with Badger.
They could have had freedom, but they chose to stay with their girl.

Cowboy and Badger slept late, until almost noon.
Cowboy ate breakfast, then spent the rest of the day outside.
I don’t know what he did, but he seemed happy.

Badger went back to her room.
Whether the littles are around or not, she tends to stay in her hobbit hole.

Before leaving, she gave me the new Hamish prequel to The Hunger Games.
I spent the day in bed reading and completed the book.
It was a rare pleasure to read without constant interruption.

Badger actually cooked supper.
We almost never get that on weekends anymore.
She won’t cook with the littles running in and out, and Raven leaves such a mess that it’s nearly impossible anyway.
The littles also complain about the food, so cooking often doesn’t happen.

After supper, we took a little walk.
It looked stormy, so we just went to the library and back.
We weren’t home more than five minutes before the skies opened up.
It rained buckets the rest of the evening.

I texted Uncle, but he hasn’t replied, which is unusual.
I don’t message him as often anymore, but I try to check in once a month.

The day was boring and lazy, but it felt wonderful.

Tomorrow we’ll get our hair cut, though in my case there’s not much to cut.
We might head to M. for Aldi’s, too.
Badger loves their chicken and wants to stock up.
Aldi’s is always full of surprises.

Now I’m off to bed again.
This time to sleep, not to read.
