☔️ Coffee and rain: my peaceful escape

The house is clean now, except for Badger’s room.
You don’t touch Badger’s room.
She slept on the couch last night.
When I woke up, I just played on the computer so I wouldn’t disturb her.

Lately, when no one is on the couch, I’ve been taking little walks around the yard, just to get some fresh air.
It seems like the new neighbors are also early risers.
They’re usually in their yard.

Now, I really can’t see well, even with the new glasses prescription, but from a distance I’d almost swear the man is a Prince Harry twin.
That’s what I’ve started calling him, Prince Harry.

It was the same old routine for the day.
 Nothing really changes around here.

I think Cowboy may have gone over to Dos’s to fix her mower.
I’m not entirely sure on that, though.

Badger has been chipping away at her laundry and trying to get her room back in shape.

Badger told me it was time for new curtains.
My red ones were, ew.
We looked and narrowed it down to two styles.
The mason jars, she said, reminded her of 1980s Jessica Fletcher grandma.
So, we ended up with lemon curtains.
The sun shining through them gives the kitchen a cozy, homey feel, and they’re quite pretty without being thick.

My grandmother always had a yellow kitchen.
I said when I got my own house I’d have my own yellow kitchen.
I just love how sunny it is.
That didn’t work out, but this is fairly close.

Cowboy headed back to work.
He was off all last week.
When he called on his lunch break at 10 pm, he said they hadn’t left him any jobs.
The ones they did touch were only half done, which meant he had to go back and redo them.
And not a soul down there knows how to weld properly.

Heron returned from his girlfriend’s at 4 pm, left his dog, and went out with Peacock.
He came back at 9 pm, mentioned he was returning to his girlfriend’s, and noted that he works tomorrow.

Badger and I were heading down to the creek.
We’ve not been in a long time.
The food bank truck was parked down there, though, so we just came home.

I doubt we were home a half an hour before the skies opened up, and the rain poured down.
It rained a good long while.

We spent the rest of the night watching a Bette Midler movie.
I didn’t realize how many movies she made.

I asked Raven if the littles were coming down this weekend.
He made an odd face and said nope.

As usual, Cowboy is blaming me and Badger, but that’s all on the other parent.
I think that Badger and I have bent over backwards to be accommodating to Raven and his children.
If asking them to stop leaving puddles on the toilet seat keeps them away, so be it.
If asking them to put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher keeps them away, so be it.
If asking them not to grind food into my floor or hide it in the couches keeps them away, so be it.
Well, too dang bad.
