I am writing to try to keep up with my days.
If AI and Google are to be trusted, both my dyscalculia and ADHD give me a bit of time blindness.
The blog has always served as my anchor, my way of at least partially figuring out the days.
I knew that Monday was library, so they had library books, and Tuesday and Thursday were gym, so they dressed accordingly.
My days were pretty firmly anchored in my mind.
Once the kids left school, I lost that routine.
Most of the time I know that Thursday is the day to go to town and buy groceries, but lately I find myself forgetting it is even Thursday.
Sunday is when Cowboy goes to church, though sometimes he works, so that’s not a guarantee.
The rest of the days of the week are anyone's guess.
When you're an old, fat house cat that rarely leaves the house, time honestly doesn't matter.
Badger stayed in her room until early evening.
I stayed in my room, putting laundry away, reading, and watching TV until it was time for Cowboy to go to work.
I know that Cowboy was outside making Badger a target to practice on and taking the trash to the dump; I’m not sure what else he got into.
After Cowboy went to work, Badger and I found some dinner, watched a movie, and then she took the dogs outside to paint the target.
With nothing better to do, I played on the computer.
When the target was finished, Badger and I took a quick walk around the block.
By the time we came home, Heron was back from work and cleaning up.
When he finished, Badger was cleaning out the litter boxes, with Lady guarding her.
So, he went out and played ball with Lady for a bit.
He brought her back in, then went down to his RV and found that his white cat had been escaping through a tiny hole in the catio near the roof.
I think he got that boarded up.
Heron came up, put a load of clothes in the washer, and headed back to his RV.
Badger had retreated to her room for the night.
I think I'll go to bed and read a bit.
I understand the running together of days. It happens when we haven't obligations, a scheduled life. My day consists of cleaning litter boxes, cooking and sometimes cleaning. You do have activity around you. That's something, right? 🙂 The lives of we hermits.
ReplyDeleteSandra: I totally get what you mean about the days running together when life isn’t on a schedule. Even small routines, like your cooking, cleaning, and caring for your pets, give the day some flow
DeleteI’m lucky to have a daughter who nudges me to go for walks most days, and that helps break up the quiet.
Hermit life isn’t all bad, is it?
There is coffee, purring cats, sunlight through the window, and the quiet rhythm of ordinary days.
