I was up early so I could call the veterinarian as soon as the office opened.
We managed to swap Smudge’s appointment for Annie’s and took her in at 11 a.m.
Annie has a URI right now, and because she isn’t a healthy cat, it takes her a lot longer to heal.
They stuck a thermometer up Annie’s rear end, and she howled and clawed the heck out of Badger.
We heard the vet tech tell the veterinarian that Annie had scratched her mamma and was “spicy” or “feisty.”
The veterinarian came in with a needle.
The tech grabbed Annie’s neck, and the veterinarian tried to give her the shot.
Annie twisted, hissed, and clawed.
The veterinarian laughed and said, “Oh, I remember she’s a scratcher.”
Last time we had her in, she clawed the veterinarian too.She got the steroid shot, and we brought home an antiviral and an antibiotic pill.
I can hope it helps, but honestly, I doubt it.
I’ll do a time jump and tell you Annabelle will not take the antiviral.
They said it’s extremely bitter, and she keeps spitting it at us every time.
That’s the one she needs most.
I don’t know what else to try, because hiding it in her food does not work.
The laundry room doesn’t stay very warm, but it’s the safest place for the cats to sleep at night, and we make sure they have plenty of bedding so they stay comfortable.
We have to keep the bedroom doors open to heat the rest of the house, and eight cats running loose overnight would be chaos.
Annabelle will start sleeping in a large crate that’s covered with blankets and has a self‑warming fleece pad, so she’s protected from drafts and stays warm.
Since the crate has enough space, we’ll keep her medicated food in there too.
Maybe she’ll nibble on it during the night.Heron, Badger, and the dog went to Seven Islands State Birding Park.
Badger kept trying to get me to come along with them, but I told her it was way too cold for me.
They were gone three hours and got home at 6 p.m.
Raven didn’t get back until 5 p.m., so I had about two hours completely alone before everyone was home. I didn’t do anything productive, just played on the computer.
It felt strange being all alone.
We ended the evening watching our TV series, and we’re almost finished with it.
I’m not sure what she’ll pick next.
Tomorrow is Badger’s psychologist appointment.
I don’t know if Raven will be home or not.
I may have the house to myself again for a bit.

Try pulverizing the medication then put it into a syringe with liquid and squirt it into her mouth. This is how I give the horses medication in pill form. It works. You'll need to give her treats afterward, I'm sure!
We will be dropping temperature during the day down to -10. It is winter. I remember as a young woman I would go skiing in subzero temps like it was no big deal. Ah, to be young! Enjoy your alone time.
Sandra: Thank you.
We’ll have to give that a try. Annie’s nearly impossible when it comes to pills.
That is seriously cold! I don’t think Tennessee’s ever dipped that low.
It’s true, when we’re younger the cold didn't seem to matter much — we just pushed through it without thinking. I miss being young.
Stay warm and safe!
