Badger went into the laundry room to clean the litter boxes and get the room ready so the cats could be safely locked in there until Sunday.
She’d probably been working an hour or more when Raven came home from work and told us he was spending the weekend at his former partner’s house instead of bringing the kids down here.
Badger fussed about him not telling us yesterday and about wasting time deep‑cleaning for the weekend when she didn’t need to.
I told her to look at it like this: the laundry room and litter boxes needed cleaning anyway, and they shouldn’t need to be cleaned again until Wednesday.
And best of all, we get a quiet, restful weekend.
Don’t go looking at a gift horse in the mouth.
I guess since she was already knee‑deep in cleaning, she just decided to keep going.
She finished with the laundry room and the storage room and then moved outside.
She scrubbed the porch and moved on to the she‑shed.
She scrubbed the floors in there and tried to wiggle the excess junk around so we could sit out there again.
As I repeatedly say, boy, I miss having the extra bedroom open so I could use it to store things that can’t be kept in the storage room because the cats destroy them.
There isn’t very much to say about the morning.
It went along as it usually does.
Well, Badger doesn’t usually turn into a cleaning tornado and attack everything that’s not tied down.
But basically, it went along as usual.
After Cowboy went to work and the school crowd thinned out, Badger and I walked down to the Creek Church.
There were kids playing on the playground equipment, but I told her to just ignore them.
We were at the picnic pavilion and not in their way.
We broke a temperature record today.
It made it to 83 degrees.
We had a good evening to sit and relax and listen to the creek sing.
We came home and settled down to watch TV the rest of the evening.
As Badger says, it’s very rare for us to be able to sit in the living room and watch TV on a Friday.
Badger has headed to bed.
Heron came up, nabbed his dog, and headed to his RV.
I think I'll be heading to bed too.
Tomorrow we should be going to White Pine and Cowboy wants to get an early start.
That is, if he doesn’t work over.
