We're in false or fool's spring here in East Tennessee.
It made it up to 70° today.
After Cowboy headed off to work, Badger and I said to heck with getting smushed by a school bus.
We loaded our backpacks and headed to the creek church.
Then she and I walked across the road to the horse church to sit a while longer.
There isn't anything over there to entice kids to invade.
For whatever reason, they closed down the Boys and Girls Club that used to meet there.
They took back their comfy benches, leaving just the old stone benches the church owned.
It wasn't the most comfortable seating, but it was still peaceful if you ignore the horses snorting at you every couple of seconds.
I assume we were disturbing them.
Badger and I spent all morning cleaning house, which is honestly stupid.
Friday will roll around, and we'll have Raven's kids, and by Sunday night it'll look like we did nothing.
That’s the point she made.
But as I told her, we do live here from Sunday night to Friday night.
I like my house not smelling like pig poop and dirty pull-ups.
I also like being able to sit down without an acorn crammed up your butt or putting your hand in crumbs.
You can’t leave pizza handprints on the curtains; it’ll stain.
So we cleaned, and I can enjoy the fruits of our labor until Friday night.
I did four loads of laundry and thought I was nearly done when Raven popped out with his laundry.
He goes to work early now and has to get his sleep, so I did his laundry too.
They delivered Smudge’s medicine tonight; we’ll start her on it in the morning.
Fingers crossed, because it isn’t a veterinarian‑approved medicine, that she tolerates it well.
I’m also really hoping it’s as good as the Facebook group says, and we can eke out another year or two before we have to have the last of her teeth pulled.
By the time Badger came back inside, I was ready to finish up the evening watching TV.
I’m exhausted and ache all over, but busy days aren’t bad.
They keep your mind off things.
Tomorrow is Wednesday.
Badger says we'll take it as a rest day.
All the surrounding churches will be having church, so there's no escaping to the creek or the horses.
Thursday, Cowboy has a late evening doctor appointment, so he's taking the day off.
We don't usually schedule appointments after eleven a.m., but maybe they didn't give him a choice this time.
After he gets out of his appointment, we'll go get our groceries at the Walmart close to the doctor's office.
Cowboy will argue with us, but Knoxville carries different groceries than Jefferson City.
This Walmart in particular has a better frozen food section.
With that, I'm hobbling to bed.

It's known that a tidy home is calming so cleaning after the weekend does more for you than just cleaning. And another benefit is not smelling excrement and looking at pizza stains on drapes!
Why do all the churches have services on Wednesday? New to me. Hopefully the medicine works.
Sandra: You’re right that a clean house is calming. After the weekend, getting things back in order really helps my mood.
And yes, not dealing with smells or stains is a real blessing.
I’ve been told that having Wednesday night services is a mid‑week recharge, kind of a spiritual anchor between Sundays. It’s a bit more common in the South and Midwest, or so Google says.
Thank you. I’m hoping the medicine does help her.
