I'm not an author and I'm not good with words.
All I can say is that what has happened in Pigeon Forge, in Gatlinburg, in the Smokies themselves is devastating.
The pictures and videos that came out were like scenes from some apocalyptic movie.
Pray for rain.
We got a little bit, but we need so much more.
The drought is unbelievable and the dry conditions are just fueling fire after fire.
It will be years before the Smokies recovers.
Like many Tennesseans, I grew up in the Smokies.
We've spent summers swimming in the creeks outside of Cades Cove.
We've hiked those mountains many a time.
We enjoyed walking around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
Dollywood was the place to be all summer long and we enjoyed Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.
Those mountains are home.
Every place in those mountains holds a memory.
I'm heartbroken.
