The pictures and videos that came out were like scenes from some apocalyptic movie.
Prayers are needed for the residents, for the firefighters, for the missing and there are people missing at this time, pray for rain-we got a little bit, but we need so much more. The drought is unbelievable, and the dry conditions are just fueling fire and fire after fire.
It will be years before the Smokies recovers.
Like many Tennesseans, I grew up in the Smokies.
We've spent summers swimming in the creeks outside of Cades Cove, we've hiked those mountains many a time, we enjoyed walking around Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, Dollywood was the place to be all summer long, we enjoyed the Aquarium.
Those mountains are home.
Every place in those mountains holds a memory.
I'm heartbroken.
