I headed down to the RV to liberate the cats.
I was worried to death we’d let one out last night.
I’d gone down to check the RV door before bed, just to be sure it was shut.
All of a sudden, the RV catio lit up as bright as day.
I dragged Cowboy down.
He went in to check the RV while I waited on the catio.
The solar light was face down, I set it back up.
Everything looked fine, so I figured one of the cats lit it up and knocked it over.
Still, I worried about one slipping out in the dark.
He’s got three black cats; we wouldn’t have seen a thing.
The white one would’ve glowed, though.
I went down and let them out for the day.
All four were accounted for, thankfully.I came back up, put the clean dishes away, started the washing machine in a clean cycle, and scrubbed the toilet.
Badger will clean the house, but won’t touch that toilet.
I added one of those little blue tablets.
I said I wouldn’t do that again, since they sort of gum up inside the tank.
But they do keep the toilet cleaner.
By that time, Cowboy was awake, he ate his breakfast, and headed to the landfill
I let Badger sleep in, and she didn’t wake until 11 am.
The dogs had been shut in with her, so she took them out first thing.
Then came an incident with Lady.
We don’t leash her-our mistake - and when a stranger walked down the hill, Lady darted in front of him before Badger could react.
Thankfully, she didn’t bite, only barked, and barked a lot.
It’s the third time she’s gone full Cujo on someone, and from now on, she’ll have to be leashed.
Badger worked through her laundry while I caught up on mine, folding and putting everything away.
Before long, it was time for Cowboy to head to work.
Raven got home at 4:30 pm.
He came in ready to toss his laundry straight into the machine, but Badger was still running hers.
I don’t know where she found so much to wash.
He looked a little miffed, ate his supper, and went on to bed.
Since he has so few clothes to wear, I had Badger pause her load and put his basket in.
It was washed and dried in time for him to head to work.
We had another ground shake at 6:30 pm.
I didn’t feel it, sitting in my chair with my feet off the floor.
Badger was on the bathroom floor, trying to screw the door back together, and she felt it clearly.
The sound was loud, though nothing seemed to move.
I’m assuming the mines were blasting again.
As Cowboy likes to say, one day the conditions will be just right, and this whole town will disappear.
The mines run directly beneath us.
We picked “Wicked,” since we’d been waiting for it to come out.
I still don’t get how you take such a dark, twisted book and turn it into something so glittery and cheerful.
It was okay, and that’s about all I can say.
What I’d really love is a version that sticks closer to the book.
Then it was back to laundry.
I think I’m finished, but Badger still has more to do.
Tomorrow is her therapist day.
I don’t go.
I’ll probably take a lazy day, though most of mine turn out that way anyway.
