“On the mend from a lightning-fast virus that hit like a runaway train but is finally losing steam.”

I’m on my feet, but still not 100%.
I had whatever Cowboy had, plus more.
Holy cow.
Several times during the evening, I was curled up in a ball with my knees to my chest, bawling my eyes out.

I haven’t had stomach cramps that bad since I had appendicitis.
I don’t know what it was, but it was a bear of a bug.
Knock on wood, no symptoms today.
I just feel weak as a kitten.

I told Cowboy that Badger didn’t try to take care of me this time.
Usually, she does.
She brought me some tea and a Sprite, and sent a text asking if I wanted some soup, and that was it.
I was alone all day and all night, with two dogs for company.
Lady would paw me, lick me, and curl up in my lap when I was crying.
I guess she was a good nurse.
Cowboy said Badger was probably afraid of catching whatever it was, so she stayed away.
Since having two rounds of Covid, which I may or may not have given her, she’s gotten more cautious about germs.

She made up for it today.
She keeps plying me with liquids.
She made a very tasty frozen fruit concoction.
She and Cowboy are afraid I’ll get dehydrated.
I don’t drink much even when I’m well, and after a day like yesterday, I need fluids.

No littles this week.
Raven asserted his right to one weekend without the crew each month.
You don’t come between Raven and Medieval markets.

I haven’t seen Heron since 5 a.m.
I think today is a double shift.
He and Cowboy had to be on the road by 7 a.m. to pick up his car.
Logically, he came up at 5 to put his clothes in the dryer.
Well, Badger had them dried and waiting for him on a chair.
I think he went back to the RV and took another nap.
I grabbed a cup of tea ’cause I was dry as a desert, and I took another couple naps myself.

There was a little excitement in the neighborhood-a lot of rumors going around.
One version of events is that a woman’s mother, living out of state, asked for a welfare check after not hearing from her daughter.
Reports claim that two people were found deceased in the home, while another man, alive, was still living there.
At this point, it’s only rumor, and the actual facts may emerge later.

There was a time when we knew everyone in this neighborhood.
There was a time when I didn’t even lock my doors at night.
I sure don’t do that now.

So many of the ones who lived here when we first moved in have died.
New ones have come and gone.
We don’t know anyone anymore.
This isn’t the kind of neighborhood where you borrow a cup of sugar or ask your neighbor to water your plants while you’re away.

Side Deck Neighbor, we could depend on and trust.
Blue House Across from the Mailboxes has me pick up her packages and keep them while she’s gone, so I guess she trusts me.
Cowboy grew up with her and her husband.
Side Deck Neighbor is gone now.
Blue House Across from the Mailboxes lost her husband a year or two ago, and she’s not around much these days.
Mostly, you keep your doors locked, your mouth shut, and your head down these days.

I think I’ll head back to bed.
I’ve watched, or had playing in the background, so many “I Won the Lottery, Now Find Me a House” episodes, I’ll probably be dreaming of the host.
He’s oddly soothing when one is nauseous.
