He was going in at 10 p.m., now he goes in at 8 p.m.
That means he leaves the house at 7 p.m. now.
He and the kids left just a little before 2 p.m. today. It’s rained off and on all day.
Nonetheless, I braved the rain and sat on the she‑shed until I started shivering.
Then I came inside, went to my bedroom, and huddled up under blankets until the littles left.
It’s not really cold; it’s just damp, wet, and not 80°.
I think Raven’s starting to realize Cowboy’s done playing babysitter.
He’s been keeping the kids in his room more lately.
After they left, Badger cleaned for me, though there wasn’t much of a mess this week.
The kitchen was another story.
Raven still won’t rinse his dishes and put them in the dishwasher.
All he has to do is scrape the food off and slide them in, but he ignores me every time.
Badger fusses that I should make him do it, but how?
I talk and talk, and he just tunes me out.
Some days I’m tempted to hide the dishes and switch to paper plates, but Cowboy would never go for that.
It just doesn’t feel fair to me and Badger.
She’s always picking up more than her part, and I’m tired of saying the same thing again and again.
At this point, I don’t know what else to do.
Heron’s off at his girlfriend’s.
We did get out for a bit, picked up supper fixin’s.
Badger went to work in the kitchen and turned out twice‑fried hamburgers ; tasty as all get‑out, even if they crunched a little more than they should’ve.
Not much else to say about today.
Cowboy has a doctor appointment in the morning, but I won’t be going with him. I can’t take much of his driving anymore. The eye doctor is next on his list, and I hope new glasses will steady him.
Lately he weaves like a sailor on shore leave, drifting across the lines, sliding into the wrong lane, even dropping off the edge of the road.
Maybe it’s depth perception gone, or maybe he’s just blind as a bat.
For now, I’m signing off, looking for something to read or another round of the singing Moose.
