Things are normally boring around here.
Nothing much ever changes.
With me being in recovery mode, it’s doubly boring.
Cowboy slept most of the morning, then snorted awake around 2 pm and went to put up his sister’s ceiling fan.
He didn’t get back until 4.
Badger spent the day cooking and cleaning.
I hate having her do everything, but I’m on restrictions and about to go crazy not being able to do anything.
She made beef stew, did the laundry, thoroughly cleaned my bedroom and even worked on her own.
I’m really proud of her.
I sit and watch TV.
Yep.
I sit.
Badger bought me a bird-watching book today.
Now I can watch the bird feeder instead of the TV all day.
I bent over today and found out real quick why they said not to.
Oh my gosh, the pressure in my gums was so painful.
I hope it’s just the stitches and that it stops once they come out.
Speaking of stitches, they’re starting to come loose but not come out yet, and they’re making me nauseous.
Recovery is going great.
I bounced back better than I expected.
Pain has been minimal.
I think the swelling has gone down, but I’m pretty fat, so it’s hard to tell what’s swelling and what’s just... me.
The stitches are driving me crazy.
What isn’t hanging down and making me gag is pulled so tight it’s making my gums hurt.
I do have a bone spur, and he’s supposed to remove it on Thursday, hopefully.
That gum won’t heal until it’s out, and the longer it stays in, the higher the risk of infection.
I didn’t have all my teeth yanked out just to end up with an infection.
I’m living on potted meat (ugh) and baby food (equally ew).
I did manage to sort of swallow some egg tonight, I got desperate.
Not the whole egg, just pieces.
I had potted meat, an over-easy egg Cowboy made, though it didn’t really turn out over easy, mashed potatoes, and applesauce.
That’s the most I’ve eaten since last Wednesday.
It did not settle well.
In about three weeks, my gums should be healed enough for me to try gumming some softer solids.
The surgeon’s office called today.
They wanted their money before surgery.
I was like, “What? No, I already had my surgery.”
“No, honey, you’re scheduled for surgery.”
Then she tapped a few things and said, “Oh, that’s right, honey. You had your surgery. And you’ve already paid.”
Holy cow.
The surgeons in this practice were highly recommended.
Nobody ever said anything about the office staff.
I am heading to bed.
I have to sleep flat on my back with a ton of pillows to keep my head elevated, and I can’t sleep that way.
I woke up at 6:30 in the morning, so it has been a long day.
Especially when I’m not allowed to do anything.
