Under the weather. ๐ŸŒง️

We’re in one of our little winters, probably redbud winter, although I’ve seen dogwoods blooming.
There are debates on my Facebook weather pages about which one this is.
With climate change, the old way of predicting these little cold snaps doesn’t really work anymore.
The redbuds started blooming in March, and now the dogwoods are blooming too.
Our last cold snap should come in May, and then we can finally put our winter woolies away and turn off the heat for good.

Cowboy was sick all night and most of this morning.
I had to call and cancel his doctor’s appointment.
He said there was no way he was driving that distance.

He slept until 2 p.m., then wobbled out to feed his chickens.
He didn’t look so well when he wobbled back into the house, but he ate a bowl of soup and headed on to work anyway.

I tried to get him to take a vacation day, but he wouldn’t.
He called on his lunch break, around 10 p.m., and said he was feeling a little better.

Cowboy feeds Vier like a little bird, sharing cups and forks with her.
We’ve told him it’s probably best not to share with Raven’s crew-they bring home every bug going around.
He doesn’t listen.
Vier had the same issue on Sunday that Cowboy had today.

He tried to blame Badger’s hamburgers, until we told him that she and I weren’t sick; and if it had been food‑related, like the hamburgers, we’d be sick too.

Raven was gone until late; the other parent needed his help.

Heron got back from E’s earlier than expected today.
He’s been trying to get his car worked on, but finally had to admit defeat.
He has a wrecker coming tomorrow.
I assume it’s heading to a repair shop.

Thankfully, he still has his truck, and since Raven has the same model of car, I hope his doesn’t have any problems.
I’ll never hear the end of how I made him get rid of his van, and now he has nothing to drive.

He gave up on the car and went fishing until well after dark.

Badger has been in her room all day, moving things around.
It’s unfair to her, but a lot of what we had stored in Raven’s room ended up in hers.
That’s eaten up much of her space.
My storage room is full, my closet is full; and yes, I’m a bit of a hoarder.
I have, or now Badger has, about ten boxes of pictures I rescued from my grandmother’s house.
My uncle was going to throw them in the trash.
Half are my grandmother’s, half are my mother’s; and more than half I don’t even know who the people are, but I wasn’t going to trash them.
I just don’t know what to do with them.
Some went through a fire and are very fragile.

She did sneak out and made me dinner and supper, which I appreciate.
As I’ve told her, she doesn’t have to take care of me.
I appreciate what she does, but it’s not her job.

Since it turned off cold again, it’s been an inside kind of day.
I’ve mostly played a heck of a lot of Mahjong.

Tomorrow will be the same, except Badger has therapy in the morning.
I hope Cowboy feels up to driving.

I also hope it’s a little warmer, or at least less windy.
I need to feed my birds.
They’ve learned to peck on the window when the feeder is empty.
Those big old black birds are loud.
