I was awake and in the living room before 7 a.m.
Some days just go that way.
Since I was already awake, and once Sasha woke Badger up, we laced up our sneakers and headed toward the library.
At that time in the morning, we didn’t have to worry about disturbing anyone’s church service.
It wasn’t the best morning for taking pictures, but it was still nice to be out at that hour.
It's so quiet and peaceful.
Badger headed to her room, and I headed back to my computer.
We didn't make our usual mile walk, but we still walked up and down hills, and I'm not a spring chicken anymore.
Cowboy didn't wake up until almost 10 a.m.
He had breakfast, took a quick nap, and went to the morning church service.
Badger and I didn’t do a thing while he was gone.
Sometimes nothing is good.
After Cowboy got home from morning services, we headed to Jefferson City to buy bird seed.
My birds are eating me out of house and home.
Still, I really enjoy watching them.
I was standing outside the store, and Badger looked over at me and said, “You've got to stop cutting your hair short. Every time you do, you get more white.”
She's lucky to see her mother get white‑headed.
My mom didn't live to go grey.
I must have inherited the early-to-grey gene from my sperm donor’s side.
My mom was just shy of turning 65 when she died and didn't have one single grey hair to her name.
My great-aunts, Big Twin and Little Twin... well, Little Twin died when she was 84.
At that point, neither she nor her twin had a single grey hair.
I think the shock of losing her sister and the house burning down changed Big Twin almost overnight.
The front of her hair started turning white, while the back stayed that deep jet-black color.
She died at 95 and still had more black hair than white.
On the other hand, my grandmother had grey hair as long as I knew her, and so did her older sister.
They were the only two red‑headed sisters.
Little Twin had brown hair; Big Twin had black hair.
So I wonder if red‑headed people just grey early.
Not me, though, I have brown hair.
Well, I started out with brown hair, and now the roof’s getting frosty.
We made it home at 2 p.m.
Cowboy hurried out to take care of the chickens, then came back inside and stretched out in his recliner for a nap.
Badger and I headed to my room to watch TV.
We had a really good rain shower come through right after Cowboy left for evening church service.
I need to check our drought monitor.
Surely with all this rain we've had, we should be out of drought conditions.
Cowboy got home from church, we ate supper, and Cowboy curled up in his recliner for his shows.
Badger and I have just watched TV in my room.
I think she's ready to head to her room though.
I'm on a tablet, so I'll have to clean this up tomorrow.
