NO, my house is NOT a mess, its just... domestically challenged

I really haven't been home much since March. When you're dealing with a family crisis, a whole lot of things just get pushed to the side.

I've never been much of a housekeeper, but I’ve always tried to keep things halfway decent. But with me not being home much, and then after Mom died, I just didn’t have it in me, and the house has turned into a full‑blown disaster area.

With the kids back at school and Cowboy on day shift, I guess I’m going to have to start a good deep fall cleaning and try to get this place back into some kind of order.

The house is just not acceptable, even by my standards.

I tackled the boys’ rooms today. The obvious choice should have been the living room, since that’s the public area, but it made more sense to me to start with their rooms, so they can find their clothes and such for school.

Man, those boys are pigs! No, I refuse to offend pigs. Pigs are cleaner. It was just disgusting. I’m surprised I didn’t find rats and spiders and roaches and whatever else lives in a dump.

It took me all day, but I do have both rooms clean now. I’m pretty sure it won’t last. They’re old enough to clean up after themselves but too darn lazy to, but at least it’s clean for a while.

I also wanted to catch up on laundry and wash up bedding, but we lost water and it stayed off until 2:30 p.m. I managed to get a few loads done tonight, but the rest just has to wait.

I guess I’ll be busy for a while, but busy is good. Gets the mind off things. I like being busy.
