I woke up to a surprise this morning.
It had snowed again overnight, and both the road and the yard had a light dusting.
We had snow flurries until mid-morning.
They were pretty to watch, and nothing stuck.
Temperatures never made it out of the twenties, so whatever rain we got on Sunday has to be ice by now.
I called my doctor, and even though the office was closed, I left a message and sent an inner office note just to cover my bases.
They called back within ten minutes, so tomorrow’s appointment was cancelled without any fuss.
The exterminator texted to say a technician would be out tomorrow, but I moved that to Friday.
It’s simply too cold to deal with pest control right now.
I took pity on my birds and went out to refill the feeders.
It was so cold that my hands were almost numb when I came back inside.
The ground was crunchy but not slick, and I watched my step, especially in the shadier spots.
Heron is still at his girlfriend’s, Cowboy has to work, and Raven will go into work late, he's third shift.
For me and Badger, it turned into a stay‑inside, watch‑TV, read‑a‑book kind of day.
Unless you’re a penguin or a polar bear, going outside wasn't a good idea.
