It felt like spring today, warm enough to hit the high sixties.
Badger and I walked down to the yappy dachshund house, and I didn’t even bother with a jacket.
It’s January, so I know it won’t stick around, but I’m soaking it up while I can.
The dogs lose their minds the minute the front door opens.
I managed to drift back off until around 7:30.
I may be an old grouch, but waking up to a quiet, clean house felt good.
The sunlight coming through the windows gave me a little lift.
The Wi-Fi kept dropping in and out again.
In my head I was muttering, “Go on, Comcast. Keep it up. Your time’s about done.”
KUB Fiber signs are popping up like mushrooms all over town.
Comcast used to have us locked in with no other options, but now we finally have a choice.
When Comcast acts up, the security cameras go offline, which makes it hard to catch anything.
I can’t check the bank, the blog, or even look at social media.
It doesn’t bother me as much, but the service drops like clockwork from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
On weekends, that’s when Cowboy watches his foreign soaps, and it really annoys him.
The dogs and I had a quiet morning.
I spent some time working on archived files on the computer, which meant I didn’t have to deal with the Wi‑Fi acting up.
There isn’t much to say about the morning.
It felt like a thousand mornings before it.
Nothing stood out.
We just went through the same routine we always do.
Around 1 p.m., Cowboy was out feeding the chickens, and I went inside to watch my show on Acorn.
Season two suddenly dropped the closed captioning, even though season one still has it.
The Irish and New Zealand accents can be thick, and without captions I’m missing half of what’s being said.
I can follow the New Zealanders better than the Irish.
The show is a murder mystery: an Irish cop goes to New Zealand to help a local detective solve the murder of an Irish citizen.
I was trying to watch it when Badger sent me a picture of a KUB truck in the front yard.
We sent it to Peacock and said, “So it begins.”
He wants KUB Fiber badly, but his area doesn’t have it yet.
The technician worked for quite a while, and now the wire and box are installed.
Thursday evening, I’m calling Comcast and telling them goodbye.
I’ve put up with them for twenty years because we had no other options.
Their service has always been poor, so I’m hoping KUB Fiber is as good as they claim.
I won’t miss Comcast.
It was time for Cowboy to head to work before long.
After he left, Badger and I took our walk.
We’ll have to remember school starts back tomorrow, so we can’t go that early.
Then we came home and settled in for a night of television.
Once the sun goes down, it gets cold fast.
Television seems like the best option.
