Most days, I can waste an hour or two fiddling with my Blogger header, the image, the font, yep, the name.
One more name change, and then maybe my ADHD can go find something else to fiddle with besides the blog.
I'm actively avoiding writing.
It's not a job.
I'm not being paid to write.
I'm not some literary genius like Hemingway, so I'm not working on some great American novel.
It's just a way for me to remember a way to keep up with days.
It comes in handy when one is trying to remember if, oh, say, Cowboy worked overtime and his check isn't adding up right.
Or you're having a heated discussion about when the heat was turned on year to year.
But when the days start blurring together, everyone seems to be in some kind of hibernating slump.
It's a little hard to find the energy to write.
We're in a deep, deep, deep slump right now.
I mean, like we're freaking bears in the middle of January during a mighty blizzard slump.
It's mostly TV, and for Badger, literally, twenty-four hours of nonstop TV.
Oh well, sometimes life is like that.
You slow down.
You get in a little bit of a slump.
That's especially true when you're going from nice hot sunny summer into the doggone cold dark months.
The most exciting part of today is we had to go hide a gun.
Why?
Maybe Heron was afraid one of his cats would step on it.
He forgot to take it with him or put it up.
So Badger and I peeled ourselves away from the TV, walked down to the RV, and stuck a gun in the microwave.
What?
It's a small RV.
There wasn't any other reasonably safe place.
And the microwave's been broken so there wasn't much chance of it cooking.
I don't like guns, I don't like having a gun around.
I have harped, I have cussed, I have stomped my feet a bit, and made sure we never had guns in the house.
But with Heron all alone in the backyard in a flimsy RV, and we know people prowl around, I had to give in.
His safety trumps my squeamishness.
And then, of course, he stays on his girlfriend's homestead up in the woods, and that's another safety concern.
That doesn't mean he brings it in my house, although I did babysit it for a few days until I told him it was giving me the willies.
And yes, I'm not stupid.
Guns require humans to work.
I still don't like them and don't want them around.
Moving on.
Well, there's nothing to move on to.
I think we've already established that.
Tomorrow is town day, though.
We actually get out of the house and go to the big city.
Well, I wouldn't call Jefferson City a big city.
Knoxville, yes.
Jefferson City, no.
But we get away from the house for an hour or two.
We see actual live humans, which may not be all that great, but it's a little better than only seeing family for days on end.
Love my family, don't get me wrong, but for days and days and days they're the only faces I see.
We're going to try the thrift store again, and I'm going to get mad again.
There's a Mario blanket I want to see if they still have for Heron.
He has the Mario mushroom tattooed on his arm.
I think.
Pretty sure it's Mario and not a random bug-eyed mushroom.
Then we'll come home and flip the TV back on and commence our marathon TV slump.
To end, keep my cousin in your thoughts and prayers.
Tomorrow is her 59th birthday, and she got bad news today.
More bad news, I guess you could say.
Sometimes life really freaking sucks.
