Pies, fries, and the Fourth of July

We had a very lazy, low-key Fourth of July this year.
It was just the three of us here.
Peacock worked and then he went roaming.
I guess Heron was working.
I doubt if bars close down for the Fourth, and Raven didn't show up.
I kind of enjoyed the laziness of it.

We mostly stayed in, although we did make an emergency run to Lowe's for a compact refrigerator.
We have fought and fought with our refrigerator since we bought it, and it simply is too small for all our stuff.
Every time the door opens, something is falling out, and that's a waste of good money and groceries.
I can't tell you how many times something has broken open and spilled all over creation.
I told Cowboy I was really sick of it.

I was getting ready to marinate burgers, and I had a giant bowl of banana pudding that had to have somewhere to go, and there was nowhere for them to go.
I went out and brought in our chest freezer, like you take camping, and that was working just fine, but Cowboy decided it wasn't a good long-term solution, so he headed to Lowe's.
Luckily, we found a floor model on sale, so we didn't break the bank.
Badger is griping that it is too tiny, and it is, but it holds coffee creamer and all my juice bottles well enough, and that clears up the main refrigerator.

On the way home, we stopped for fireworks, although what we got couldn't really be considered fireworks exactly.
We got little tanks and cars that sparkled and made noise.
Badger isn't into the big booms like her brothers.

We came home, and Badger and I started watching “Stranger Things.”
Cowboy headed to the garden.
He stayed outside until time to eat supper.

After we had eaten and while we were waiting for it to get dark, we broke up some green beans.
They didn't do well this year, so it didn't take hours and hours to do them.

Finally, it was just dark enough to go out.
To be honest, everything was a dud. I think they may have gotten wet at one point.
We had maybe one or two that were fun to watch.

Our neighbors put on a better show, so we still got to watch fireworks.
As Badger said, they had some Dollywood-worthy fireworks.
Whatever they were shooting off made the ground shake.

We have this one lady in the neighborhood who complains about everything on our town page, and she was griping because her mobile home was shaking and her dog was cowering in fear.
I didn't comment, but I felt like telling her to count her lucky stars, this year they only set them off on one day.
In past years, they've started shooting them off as soon as the tents go up to sell them around the last of June.

I do feel for her dog though, our mighty Turtle has been cowering in fear at our feet all evening.
The cats and the guinea pig are visibly shivering, and that hamster is in such a tight ball I'm not entirely for sure he's alive.

Whatever they are shooting off is super loud, and you can feel them go off.
When they boom, the windows rattle and the floor shakes a bit.

I guess I should be getting off of here and heading to bed, I don't have any plans for the weekend.
Gealach is still at the beach.
We'll celebrate our anniversary when and if Cowboy's retirement check pops up, so there isn't anything to do.
