I lost my picker‑upper, but I went out in the yard and found a sturdy, long stick and used it rather like a fishing pole.
We’d separated the laundry, and believe you me, I have laundry.
I mean, half the living room is covered in it.
We cleaned the living room, hall, bathroom, and master bedroom, then sat down to some supper.
I posted an angry rant on Facebook about how I couldn’t physically do anything right now.
Badger was sick, Cowboy’s back was out, and Peacock was always tomcatting, and the house was disgusting.
I was beyond frustrated.
It didn’t take long before Peacock got home and cleaned up my kitchen.
Maybe I should have posted an angry rant sooner.
This morning we went to the Clinton Highway Lowe’s, and hallelujah, they had my washer in stock.
So we brought the washer home and got it set up, and I’ve been whittling away on the laundry pile.
I’m still not lifting, so Badger puts it in the washer and dryer.
I mean, I probably could do it, but Cowboy yelled at me, so I’m letting Badger do it.
It’s a more complicated machine than I wanted, but it plays a cheerful little tune when it starts and stops, so I guess this old dog can figure it out eventually.
Peacock and Raven are not allowed anywhere near her, nope.
I managed to cook dinner, no lifting involved.
It was nice to have a home‑cooked meal and not fast food or Jell‑O.
By the time Cowboy went to work, I had a bursting headache, so I took a migraine pill and went to sleep.
I woke up to thunder booming; it poured buckets for a while.
Luckily it cleared up, and Badger got to get some skateboarding in.
She’s feeling some better.
I still think it’s just the antibiotics.
They’re nasty things, and she’s never had this antibiotic before.
I’m on the mend, less pain, I’m standing up and not hunched over, and I can get up from a chair or the bed without gritting my teeth.
The surgeon’s office called me, and I have my follow‑up August 1st.
Cowboy’s retirement check saga continues.
They finally got his application on the 9th, and they were supposed to process it as soon as they received it.
They decided to put it on hold and only started processing it on the 16th, so when he receives it is up in the air.
He’s decided to tell the plant he’s not taking vacation time, and with me having surgery and the check not coming in, there really isn’t any need to take time off.
I feel like the whole summer has been wasted.
It was one doctor’s appointment after the other, and I’ve really not got to enjoy the summer.
Obviously, we’re not doing anything this weekend.
We do have to go out and get groceries tomorrow, and that’s going to be fun.
Hopefully, I hold up well.
Gealach will be up, I guess. The house is ready for her.
I think I will spend most of her visit safely tucked away in my bedroom watching movies, although she’s not as rowdy as the boys. She still likes to twirl and bounce and kick, and my stomach is still off‑limits.
OK, let’s get off of here and tackle some more laundry.
