As Halloween’s dark week descends, October’s dying light gives way to winter’s endless night

Our last Sunday in October.
Wow! The year is really picking up speed and flying on by.
We're into Halloween week.

I used to love Halloween.
My kids loved Halloween more than they did Christmas.
It's just not the same without kids, though, is it?
Badger half-heartedly put a few decorations outside, but nothing like we once did.

Nothing really feels like it once did.
A lot of forums I read mention that.
They blame COVID and Trump and aging.
The most interesting ones mention time jumps and alternative universes, and we're in a simulation.
If we are, then who is pulling the strings?
When one has a lot of time on one's hands, one can really go deep into a rabbit hole.
Suffice to say, nothing feels the same anymore.
We'll leave it at that.

Badger spent the day rearranging her room.
She has a mess that's hard to dig out of and a bit overwhelming.
She'll get it eventually.
For tonight, she just gave up and will sleep on the couch again.

I miss the days when I was constantly rearranging rooms.
I lack the oomph to do that these days.
Everything is slightly boring and stays the same.
Badger and Cowboy are glad my “move everything every other day” energy is gone, though.
These days I just rearrange the blog all the time.
It's a heck of a lot easier.

I've spent the day on the computer.
Some days are like that.

In between, I went in to keep Badger company and offer unwanted advice.
And occasionally to screech, “Eek! You're going to drop the computer tower!” or “Holy Cow! You have a lot of stuff!!”

Cowboy went to morning and evening services, of course.
In between, he napped and at some point he disappeared outside.
I think that may have been when Badger and I were having quite a heated discussion on whether to move her bed or not.

By the way, she left it where it was.
The way I wanted it, I have to agree, left very little space in her room.
The way it's been for the last couple of years gives her more space, but it is right up against the window.
That gets cold in the winter.
It's a huge bed, and with limited room, you do what you have to do.

The way she has the room now, once it's all fixed back up, she says, allows her to move between her art desk and her computer desk.
That way, she can move easily between doing her art and working on her photography at the computer.

Tomorrow is Badger's weekly appointment.
I'll have the house to myself because Heron is at his girlfriend's until Tuesday.
I won't do anything.
Of course, I can't do anything.
Right now, Badger's things are all over.

I think I'll get off of here and go read my book.
I have a good murder mystery book I'm trying to get through.
