"You’ve been upgraded from a fish bowl to the porcelain whirlpool. Bon voyage, my friend. 💔🐠🚽 #ToiletFarewell"

Cowboy went into work at 12 p.m.

I piddled around all day.

The house was clean, and the laundry was caught up except for Badger's bedding, which I've worked on all day.

With the kids at school and Cowboy gone during the day, I don't really have much to do.

Kick Flu Before it Kicks You

Raven, Heron, and Badger didn't go to school today.

It was our annual flu shot time.

They took them like champs.

Coughing and sneezing like a pro

Cowboy replaced our front porch columns today.

The old columns were rotted and falling apart, and several generations of children coming through this house had graffiti'd them badly, so the new ones are a welcome change.

He made some out of metal at the plant, put them up, and painted them while I was swooning in my bed.

It improves the look of the porch 100%, and these take up less room.

“If I could trade places and hurt instead of you, I would in a heartbeat.”

The school nurse sent Badger home from school today because she was in so much pain.

She thinks the ER has missed a break in her collarbone.

I was reluctant to send her to school as it was, but she doesn't have an excused absence.

I Fought The Law [Of Gravity] And The Law Won

Badger had a pretty bad skateboarding accident tonight.

I couldn't get a hold of Cowboy at work, so Raven drove us to the ER, which was an adventure in itself.

The ER said it's just a sprained ligament and a bit of road rash, but she's OK.

"Oh fall, it's nice to see you again."

Badger had her tooth out this morning.

Cowboy went back with her.

He's just better with the kids, better at calming them down and joking their fears away.

“Maybe if I complain about this simple 2-minute task for 25 minutes instead of doing it, it’ll go away. – Teenagers.”

Mamma went on the warpath this morning.

The kids have just been laying around all summer long, sleeping all day and playing all night.

I clean, they trash the house after I'm in bed.

Kissing my thirties goodbye

I turned 40 today.

I don't feel any different than I did yesterday, but some little part of me knows that I've reached a milestone in my life.

It's a whole new decade.

It's the age I thought was so darn old when I was in my 20s.

It's grey hair, crow's feet, and aching bones.

I would say it's the age of the empty nest and new adventures, but the 7-year-old keeps the nest full.

Feels like i have been kicked in the head by an angry garden gnome

They called Cowboy in to work early today.

I brought Soph and Gertie inside as watch dogs since we'd be alone until Raven got home.

I've always been uneasy about being here alone, but I never really wanted a guard dog.

Yeah, I Did It, So?

Heron came home today and said that on his way to lunch he saw Badger and another child getting ready to leave school.

They were actually at the front door and opening it.

I guess she saw Heron, or maybe he said something to her, but she decided to go back to class.

Little Picasso

Tonight was Night of the Arts at the elementary school.

Let's just say I'm in no danger of having the next Picasso or Monet.

Seriously though, Heron and Badger did a nice job on their assignments.

Heron's was a baked clay book, and Badger did a clay necklace and a stamped art piece.
