I’ll be going snow-where today

We woke up to a winter wonderland, which would’ve been amazing if we hadn’t been snowed in with extra people in the house.
From the reports coming in, it’ll be impossible for Raven to get the kids home anytime soon.
The roads are beyond dangerous.
We’ve got somewhere between five and seven inches of snow out there.
The high temperature in Knoxville today was 25°.

I’m not in Knoxville, but they don’t give an official temperature for my area.
Things haven’t been that bad because I keep sending Raven texts reminding him to keep the kids quiet, use their inside voices, and try to control the messes they make.
I clearly told Raven not to bring the kids down this weekend.
All the meteorologists were saying this would be an overnight event, and it could get really bad.
Raven chose to bring the kids down anyway.
Now, we’re all stuck together.
It’s not fair to anyone in the house to have to deal with excessive noise and a lot of mess.
Raven could have stayed with the other parent or given up his visitation this weekend.
He chose not to.

The kids were up at the crack of dawn again, waking me and Badger, so we took a snowy walk to the library.
We planned to go on to the creek church, but that snow was too deep to walk through.
It wasn’t slick, just fluffy and hard to push through, like a mountain of feathers.
Getting up and down from the railroad tracks was scary.
Even walking was a little scary, because everything was so white you couldn’t tell where the ground even was.
We gave up on going past the library.
Honestly, we weren’t sure we’d make it home.
We finally gave up and walked in the road, and even that was a little icy.

It was glorious outside.
That deep, heavy quiet you only get when it snows.
Everything felt peaceful.

Then Badger went to her room, I went to mine, and we haven’t budged.
Well, it’s almost 9 p.m., the kids are in bed, so I sneaked out to the computer.
I don’t know what all Badger did, but I watched a lot of TV and finished a book.
It was a long day, but to be honest, I had the space heater going, Lady was curled up with me, and I was wrapped up in a ton of blankets.
The white noise machine was going to block out the noise, and I enjoyed the day.

Cowboy’s boss called and said if he can get out, he has to be at work at 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Raven says he went to the store, and once you get out of our neighborhood, the roads aren’t too bad.
But it’s 12 degrees right now, and all of that is going to refreeze tonight.

I guess we’ll just have to see what tomorrow brings.

I guess I’ll head back to bed.
It’s time for my night medicine anyway, and I’ve got another book waiting on me.
I just wish the library had my series in order.
You really shouldn’t read this series out of order, but that’s what I’m doing.

One of my many faults is impatience. I admire those who can simply close a door and read a book. When there is no choice that is the best route to take.

You got a lot of snow. The equipment to handle lots of snow probably is in short supply there.

Sandra: I’m very impatient, but losing myself in a book has always been my escape from real life.
We got a crazy amount of snow. I think the final total was seven inches. We don’t really know how to handle that much. I read on one of the news sites that one town even ran out of salt for the roads.
