Laundry is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get

Badger and I have the routine down pat for when the exterminator comes.
It helps that the house is already clean, and all that needs to be done is clearing off the kitchen countertops.
He was in and out quickly.

He said he isn’t catching anything in the traps, so we’ll have one more indoor visit and then see what’s next.
I’m not sure how it works, but I’m guessing we’ll move to outside maintenance.

It’s not something you want to think about, especially with Heron and Cowboy working around food.
Heron’s at a bar and pizzeria, and Cowboy works at a rendering plant that makes meal for pet food.
Pests are just part of life.
Anywhere there’s food, they tend to follow.
Sometimes you even bring home hitchhikers without realizing it.
So we’ll keep our contract with Cook’s.
I’m locked in for a year, and if he needs to come back inside, we can just call him.

By the time he left, my head was pounding.
Badger handed me a Tylenol, and I chased it with coffee.
She fussed a little, but the coffee was right there, and the kitchen was still boxed up on my desk.
Even if I’d wanted water, I couldn’t really get to it.
I offered to help with the kitchen, and she snapped, so I went to lie down.
A couple of hours later she nudged me awake with a plate of pasta and meatballs.
It isn’t her responsibility, and I remind her of that, but she’s good about looking after me.
I try to show her I appreciate it.
I’m just never sure if it comes across.

When I walked back into the kitchen, she had reorganized everything again.
She tries hard to keep it tidy, but it doesn’t take much for the space to get cluttered.
It’s a small galley kitchen, and counter space is limited.
There’s not much else to say about the rest of the day.
I wasn’t feeling great, and I don’t think Badger was either.
Once Cowboy headed off to work, the rest of the evening was just the TV.
A lot of days are like that in January and February.

I managed to catch up on the laundry.
I started it, and Badger took over and finished it.
Heron said he’d do his after work.
It’s late and he’s still not home, but midnight laundry is nothing new for him.

There aren’t any plans tomorrow except for Cowboy’s lab appointment.
He’ll go to that on his own.

I’m heading to bed and hoping I feel better in the morning.

At least we’re back to shopping on Thursday, so we won’t have to deal with the cranky Friday crowd.
We’ll have all day Friday to get ready for the grandchildren coming that night.
