Do you ever see or hear something and think, "I need to put that in the blog," but the day gets away from you and by the time you sit down to write, you've forgotten?
Yeah.
That's usually me.
We have security cameras all around the property.
I enjoy going through them every morning and seeing what I catch in the dead of night.
I think the raccoons keep multiplying, and they're creepy little boogers.
One possum managed to make it through the summer, and boy is it chubby.
I had a no-tail orange cat sniffing Witchie Poo, I sure hope it didn't pee on her.
Imp still patrols the yard, and the neighbor's fat cat is still out there.
There's a lot of living going on while we're asleep.
It was foggy when I woke up this morning.
If it's foggy when I go outside to feed Imp, I always stop for a few minutes and enjoy it.
The best foggy days are the days I see a deer walking through the field, just barely visible in the mist.
I haven't seen any deer in a while, though.
Badger and I are slowly settling into a morning routine.
We watch a lot of home renovation shows.
She's still sorting the Legos into different boxes.
I lucked out and got an entire succulent garden, and she bought me a new daisy set.
She remembered that my favorite flower is a daisy.
Then, after Cowboy wakes up and leaves the bedroom, we'll go into Badger's room.
She's still trying to get it organized.
It's a huge job because she pulled everything out, and with our ADHD, staying on task isn't always easy.
I think it's going to look really good when she's finished.
When Cowboy goes to work at 6:30 p.m., Badger and I head to the living room.
The TV is mostly background noise, which is why home renovation and cooking shows are perfect for us.
She's usually putting together Legos, and I'm on the computer.
We've been going to bed really early lately.
It's just that time of year when the sun goes down and the house cools off fast.
The best place to be is curled up under warm blankets with the TV on.
We set the timer and let the TV play nearly all night for some background noise and company, at least until we drift off to sleep.
The house is so quiet, and being old, it pops and creaks and squeaks.
We used to be able to count on Cowboy being home by 1 a.m.
With this new shift, we're lucky to see him by 5 a.m., and that makes for a very long night.
Badger has been sleeping in later in the mornings, probably because she hasn’t been getting much rest at night.
I still usually wake up by 7 a.m., sometimes even earlier, despite not sleeping well at night.
The time change is Sunday, and that's going to make things even worse.
Cowboy will be going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark.
That also means Badger and I will have even more hours alone in this dark, creaky house.
Lately, Heron hasn't been getting home from work until close to 2 a.m.
At least we have Lady.
She's pretty good at barking at shadows.
She and Duffy sleep beside me, so I’m not completely alone.
Most nights, Badger and I argue over who gets the dogs.
They seem to like my giant bed best.
