Badger and I were out walking at 8:30 this morning.
I still say that's the best time to be out in the summer.
Heron met us in front of the library, on his way to work.
He honked and hollered bye.
We came home, got us some breakfast, ate, and just sat around in the living room for a bit.
I have my computer, and Badger has her phone, which I assume, has games and her books on it.
Cowboy was awake about 11 a.m.
By then, Badger had headed out to the she-shed.
He ate his breakfast and then we tried to get on the company website on his phone.
My tablet, I can no longer access it.
He has to be able to get into the site to check on his mail and tasks and all that, plus take the monthly test.
Well, we couldn't find the take-test button.
Cowboy said he hated to do it, but it looked like we'd need to buy him his own tablet.
So we hollered goodbye to Badger and headed to Jefferson City.
We took a bit out of savings and bought Cowboy a tablet.
I never thought I'd see the day my old Cowboy got into technology.
Unfortunately, I think he's being shoved into the modern age kicking and screaming all the way.
It's not an impulse buy or unnecessary.
He has to be able to access his company web page.
I'm assuming that my tablet has no space.
It's full of books and I'd probably need to erase the cookies so it would forget my old sign-in.
I'm not deleting books or cookies, so he needs his own tablet.
We made it back home and I have the tablet charging.
I'll tackle setting it up tomorrow.
Badger was still in the she-shed.
She didn't come back inside until 3 p.m. when she started cooking dinner.
Cowboy went out to take care of his chickens and I went in to clean the kitchen.
It seems like lately we always have a load running in the dishwasher and a load soaking in the sink.
I haven't figured that one out.
I also got the okra cut up so Badger could dredge and fry it.
She hates touching the prickly slimy stuff.
Cowboy came inside for his nap and I settled down at my computer for a bit.
The day moved on along, eventually we got Cowboy off to work.
Badger headed back to the she-shed and I went outside.
I sat in my swing to read.
The heat finally got to me, so I headed inside just before 7 p.m.
Yes, you got it, back to my computer.
I spent a lot of time with my computer.
It was 10:00 p.m. before Badger roamed back in.
She headed on to her room and didn't come out until Heron headed back to his RV at almost 11 p.m.
I'm going to get this written up and head to bed myself.

Okra. The only time I've tried it was in Georgia. No thanks. Every new change in technology has me thinking I am finally going to be bested. As of yet, I have not. Many decades ago I worked with the elderly. I was told often that the mind does not age along with the body and I now am familiar with this fact myself. If only the body, my body, would do the same.
Cowboy might find he likes having the tablet. High heat and humidity moves in over the weekend, which keeps me inside. I understand about the dishes. We are two people, yet the kitchen continuously has pots, pans and tableware stacked, in the dishwasher and or drying in the counter. What's with this?
Here's hoping we both have a tolerable weekend, weather-wise.
Sandra: Okra really is one of those love it or hate it foods. I won't touch boiled okra, it's too slimy for me. Fried okra, if it's done right, is a completely different thing and actually really good.
I do think you're probably right about new technology eventually catching up with all of us. I seem to get by with it better than I expect, but Cowboy is definitely not a fan of change. He does have a tablet for work though, so it's not completely unfamiliar to him, he just doesn't enjoy it.
That idea about the mind not aging the same way the body does is interesting. I hadn't really heard it put that way before, but it makes sense. It feels like some parts of us stay the same while everything else changes around them.
And yes, the dishes absolutely multiply like rabbits. I swear you can get one load finished and turn around and there's already more sitting there waiting. I don't understand it either.
Our forecast isn't looking too pleasant either. They're calling for temperatures in the 90s next week with heat indices in the triple digits. I think I'll be spending quite a bit of time indoors myself.
I hope you're able to stay cool this weekend.
