My favorite day involves dirt under my fingernails and the sun on my back

Badger dug out the old trail cam, one of those motion cameras, and she’s planning to use it on the bird feeders.
To test it, she set it up in the carport overnight to watch Imp, then went out this morning to grab it.

Heron gave me a gravity feeder so Impie always has food, which means I don’t have to go outside every night anymore.
The downside is, since I’m not going out, I don’t always know if she’s still out there and okay.

The camera still works, and Badger even found a video setting I didn’t know it had.
She was going through the footage when I woke up and caught Imp eating several times during the night, so she’s still around.

I don’t think the tabby is coming by anymore, though.
We’ve got a new fluffy one showing up instead.

Today was our usual Thursday town day, and since it was the last Thursday of April, there isn’t another one this month.
And since it was also the last day of April, the month is over.
The month flew by, but maybe that’s just how time works when you’re older.
Time seems to speed up.

We made it home before 1 pm today.
We just don't need as many groceries as we used to.
We could go out every other week, but Cowboy has to go out weekly.
That's his routine, and he's not changing it.

We got the groceries put away while Cowboy fed his chickens, then we ate dinner.

Badger and I went back to the bedroom to watch our show while Cowboy settled into his recliner for his before-work nap.

He didn’t get much of one.
Time to head to work came around pretty quick today.

After he left, Badger went in the laundry room and put film on the window behind the dryer.
We left the top panes without film.
There are only two windows in the whole house without anything on them, Badger's room and the window behind the dryer.
As Badger says, we do need to be able to see out at least one window when it storms, but on the other hand, we don't want to leave an open window the neighbor can see into.
Curtains and blinds don't work when the laundry room is where you keep the cats when company is over.
The compromise was top panes, no film, bottom pane, film.

Then she headed to my room to put film on the windows facing the road.
Those windows have a white film on them, but you can still see shadows through it.
She had put film on the window facing the side-deck neighbor's house earlier, so this was the last one she needed to do.

To be honest, I keep the curtains closed on that side, again, it faces the road.
So I've not really looked at my windows in a while.
Badger discovered a giant crack in one window.
How it got there, I have no clue.
With just a bump, that whole window will tumble out on the floor one of these days.
We sent Cowboy a text telling him it's broken.
I don't expect him to fix it though, so we just gave up on extra film on those windows.
Stained-glass would have been pretty, and only one window with stained-glass is a bit odd, but it is what it is.

Heron came home from work early and stayed outside working well into the evening.
I feel bad, but I can’t really help him with it.

He’s cleaning out the she-shed flower bed and putting down mulch, or maybe soil, or something dark and dirt-like.

I’m not even sure what it is.

He whipped my out-of-control rosebush back into the archway, and that was a battle.
I think the rose won.
It has thumb-sized thorns, and I heard a lot of cursing going on.

He reduced the size of the bushes by Badger's bedroom window.
He said there was a wild grape vine choking the bush, so he started pulling that out.

Next thing we know, we heard a loud crack, and the limb holding the bird feeder tumbled on the ground.
The bird feeder is now on the swing set.

I don’t know if Heron pulling on that bush caused it or if it just finally split from age, but the soffit behind it has opened up.
Cowboy will have a cow.

We still had leftover film since we couldn’t use it on my windows, so Badger and I took it out to the she-shed.
She put it up on the door out there, and it actually looks pretty good.
Once the blinds are down, I’ll have full privacy in there now.

I came back inside.
I'm not much of one for being outdoors, but Badger stayed outside until nearly 8:30 pm.

We watched an episode of our show.
Tomorrow we need to do a little cleaning and a lot of hiding.
Raven is supposed to come down Saturday to pick up his car and let the kids visit with Pappaw.

I know I’m probably petty and childish, but my sons never say, “We’re coming to see you,” or “We’re coming to see both of you.”
It’s always, “We’re coming to see Daddy,” like I don’t even exist.

I gave birth to them, three of them without a lick of medication, and one of them in a hospital hallway. And yet I don’t exist.

Maybe I’m just taking it the wrong way, but it still makes me want to go, “arrrgh.”
I exist, you freaking brats.

Um yeah, anyway, we may or may not have the ex-wife sitting on our couch for a bit.
She has to drive Raven down, and if they’re smart, she’ll follow behind him on the way back up just in case that car acts up again.

I’m not going overboard cleaning.
We don’t really make much mess, just the four of us, but I’ll at least get the pet hair taken care of.
The cameras will need to be charged up and ready as backup.

Let’s head on to bed.
