If it involves digging in the dirt, I’m in

I took pity on my birds this morning and went out to fill up all the feeders.
Seed is getting so expensive, though.
I may have to stop feeding them, and I hate that because I enjoy watching them and the cats do too.

When Cowboy fills the feeders for me, he doesn’t do all of them, but I do.

I’ve got four window feeders, three pole feeders, and one tree feeder.
Badger’s is the tree feeder, though after last night, it might need to become a pole feeder.

I did manage to hang it on a skinny limb, but if any big, chunky birds land on it, it’s not going to last long.

Heron came up to get ready for work and said Badger and I were messing up his schedule because we were up too early now.
I’ve always been awake when he comes up, but now Badger is too.

She used to go to bed around 1 or 2 in the morning and sleep until after 10.
Now the medication she’s on has her asleep before 11 pm, and she’s not waking up off and on all night anymore.

Most mornings, she’s up before me now, which is just super weird.

Cowboy woke up, ate his breakfast, then reminded me he needed to take his monthly test.
I grabbed my tablet and got it done.

Depending on which test it is, they can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.
He must be worried they’ll question him about it, because this time he stood there and watched the video with me.
Usually, he just goes about his business and trusts me to handle it.

The morning moved along in its usual way.
Eventually, Cowboy took his before-work nap.

Badger and I ate early, then watched our show until Cowboy went to work.

Badger and I went outside, put the outside cameras back up. We'd charged them all morning.

Then we took down the inside cameras and got them charging. We'll put them up in the morning.

Around 4:30 PM, we took a little walk down to the library. We sat at the picnic bench down there for about an hour, letting Badger take bird pictures. It was a pleasant way to kill some time.

By the time we got home, Heron was already home and in the backyard, starting on the she-shed flower bed again. It's really unusual to see him home early on a Friday.

He worked on that until after 8:30 pm.

He even pulled up my pavers, put down a layer of cardboard to try and stop weeds, and then basically mulched right underneath everything.

When I checked on him, he was getting frustrated because he couldn’t get the pavers to line up.
I told him the yard isn’t straight anywhere, it’s all slopes and dips, and to just do the best he could and leave it.

I really appreciate him doing it.
I’m not sure how much he’s doing it for me, and how much of it is just because he enjoys the work.

He used to work in landscaping.

Badger stayed outside for quite a while playing with the dog.

I stayed inside on the computer.
I’ve never been much of an outdoors person.

Once Badger came in, we ate supper and then watched a movie.
Not our “The X-Files”, they're getting to the seasons where it got terrible.

Somehow or the other, Badger managed to break her glasses. I don't know how, she was just on the couch watching the movie.

She's tried to fix them and can't.
I'll have to call Walmart tomorrow to see if they're still under warranty.

I'm doubtful that they are, which means we'll have to make her an appointment with the optometrist, because they won't fix the glasses.

She does have a pair of prescription sunglasses, it's not ideal but it beats being a blind bat.

I think I’ll head to bed.
I don’t know what time Raven and the kids will show up tomorrow, but the kids are early risers, so there’s that.

We only have two bird feeders and yes, seed is expensive!

Jeanette:I may have to cut back to two feeders. I'd hate that, but it might be necessary.
