Life without books, chocolate, and coffee is just useless

I told Cowboy our months were going in reverse.
We had May weather in April and now we're getting April weather in May.

It was another chilly, rainy day.
It didn't rain nonstop, but like yesterday, it kept showering off and on throughout the day.

Cowboy had us on the road at 9:30 a.m.
It’s very rare for him to wake up early.

He told me to pick out my Mother's Day present.
I have nothing I need or want.
So Badger and I were getting Cowboy's phone card because he'll have to refill his minutes soon.
I looked up at the wall of TVs and thought, you know, Cowboy needs a new TV in the living room. His is old and doesn't work a lot of the time.
So I told Cowboy, “I know what I want for Mother's Day, a living room TV.”
Both Badger and Peacock said it won't be for me.
Not really, but Badger and I do watch movies in the living room when Cowboy is at work.
He said we'd come back tomorrow to get one, there was no room in the car today.

I guess maybe it's a little sad when you get to a point in life where you can't even think of anything you want for yourself anymore.
Then again, I really do have everything I could possibly need or want.

Well, maybe there is one thing I want.
I have a full-blown addiction to Dutch Bros and Dunkin’.
Cowboy stops and gets us drinks from one of them nearly every time we're out.
Yes, it's expensive, and yes, it's probably loaded with enough sugar and calories to kill a mule.
But after years supporting 6 kids and going without all kinds of little extras, I figure I’ve earned the right to enjoy my fancy drinks now.

Badger has a pretty limited taste when it comes to trying new things, so she uses me as her guinea pig.
Today she ordered me a blended Strawberry Colada Lemonade with pineapple, coconut, sweet cream, and strawberry fruit topping.
The strawberry topping was honestly the best part.

I know, I know.
It wasn’t coffee!
It surprised me and Cowboy both, because I always stick to coffee and somehow walked out with lemonade.

We were home at noon, which is really good timing.
With only three of us living here again, we just don't need as many groceries as we used to.

We got the groceries carried in, and Badger and I got them put away.
Cowboy took care of his chickens.
We ate dinner, and then Cowboy got in a very good, long nap.

Badger and I watched our show, “The X-Files,” until Cowboy headed off to work.
We're finally getting close to the end of the whole series now.
Of course, Badger already has plans lined up for what we're watching next.

After Cowboy went to work and the school traffic finally cleared out, Badger and I walked down to the Creek Church.
We ended up sitting there for over two hours while she took pictures.
It was really peaceful, and we could’ve stayed even longer, but then they started mowing.

I mean, it’s private church property.
The town can use the playground and the picnic pavilion, but it doesn’t belong to the town.
It still belongs to the church, with church rules, church upkeep, and church services going on.

We came home, grabbed some supper, and Badger found a “The X-Files” movie for us to watch.

Badger must have gotten a second wind because she took the dogs out in the backyard and stayed out there until after 9 p.m.

I ended up playing my online games on the computer.
I just wasn't in the mood to do much of anything else tonight.

We finished the movie after Badger came back in.
She barely made it to the end because it didn’t finish until after 11 p.m.
She’s asleep on the couch now, and I’m just going to leave her there.

Heron won’t admit it, but he’s just as wrapped up in “The X-Files” as me and Badger.
He stayed and watched the movie all the way to the end.

He and his dog have headed back to the RV, and I reminded the dog to leave my possums and raccoons alone.

I need to head to bed myself.
It’s late, really late, and we’re supposed to go back to Walmart in the morning.

I must have missed something. Did Raven move out of you home? We are having what once was a typical May going back a couple of decades. For too long it has become hot and humid in April. I enjoy the cool weather. The only time I watch tv is at lunchtime. I have been watching Murdock Mysteries and Mid Somer Murders, for like the fifth time! You have to be enjoying the peace of your home.

Sandra: In early April, my second son quit his job in Knoxville and took a job in the town where his kids live. He’s been staying with the other parent full-time. I don’t think it will be permanent. He did the same thing last summer and then moved back in with me in the fall.

I do miss the grandkids and my son, but I’m also enjoying the quiet for now.

I’m glad your weather has settled back into the usual pattern. That must feel nice.

Some shows are just comforting to watch again. We do the same thing here. There isn’t much to do around here, especially since we can’t drive, so we end up watching more TV than we probably should.
